Your permanent makeup session is complete, and you’re loving your fresh look—but now comes the healing process. At Ink n Beauty, we always stress the importance of proper aftercare, because even the best work can fade or distort if you’re not careful. To help you protect your investment, here are the top mistakes to avoid after your PMU appointment.

1. Getting the Area Wet Too Soon

Water can cause the pigment to fade or blur, especially during the first 7–10 days. Avoid washing your face directly over your brows or lips, and skip swimming or saunas during this time.

💡 Tip: Use a damp cotton pad to gently clean around the area.

2. Picking or Scratching the Scabs

Yes, scabbing is totally normal. But picking at them? That’s a no-go. It can lead to patchiness, scarring, and uneven pigment retention.

💡 Hands off! Let your body heal naturally.

3. Using Harsh Skincare Products

Active ingredients like retinol, AHAs, and exfoliants can interfere with healing. These can lighten the pigment or cause irritation.

💡 Stick to gentle, fragrance-free products until fully healed.

4. Ignoring Touch-Up Appointments

The touch-up session (usually 6–8 weeks later) is part of the full process. Skipping it means you're missing out on pigment reinforcement and final detailing.

💡 Your results aren’t “final” until your touch-up is done.

5. Exposing Treated Areas to Sun

UV exposure can cause the pigment to fade or shift in tone. Always protect your healed PMU with SPF once you’re fully healed.

💡 Hats and sunglasses help too, especially in the early days.
